Flora in Fashion exhibits dresses from 1920s to 1960s

LANCASTER – Those who are anxious for spring and its floral finery will obtain a welcome sight at the Ornamental Arts Middle of Ohio.

The artwork center, in the historic Reese-Peters House, is internet hosting by April 23 “Flower Electrical power: Flora in Style.” The exhibit of about 60 women’s attire and components – couture clothes from the 1920s to the 1960s – bursts with coloration and higher type. The garments, hats, purses, gloves and other accessories – all with floral themes – are from the Historic Costume and Textiles Assortment at Ohio State University.

“It’s a smile on your deal with, feel-good, spring is coming again variety of show,” reported Gayle Strege, exhibit curator and curator of the Historic Costume and Textiles Assortment.

Displayed on the corner pedestal is a white lace gown designed by Mollie Parnis, worn by Lady Bird Johnson.

The attire are displayed according to colour in the several rooms of the Reese-Peters Household. Blue and purple gowns in 1 area give way to pink robes in the next place, then dresses built from organic fibers in the eco-friendly room give way to a brown and black area, and lastly, a multicolor room that celebrates all the splashy hues of spring bouquets.
